Most people are familiar with word processing applications such as Word and Pages. For years, we’ve accepted that these represent the only way to write. Well it’s not true: there is another, better, more productive way. It’s called Scrivener. Scrivener is a complete research, authoring and document management environment. Not only does it offer you ways to zip around the largest of documents with incredible ease, it also enables you to manage the whole creative process from one place — including collating research and maintaining character notes. I wouldn’t use anything else and I can’t recommend it enough. Yes, there’s a bit of a learning curve — but only because we’ve all learned to write ‘the wrong way’ — using frankly inadequate tools. Once you master it, Scrivener is fast, logical and massively productive. And it costs peanuts. If you’re a writer, it’s the best £29.79 you’ll ever spend.
