Legacy Downloads
These legacy versions are no longer for sale. They are provided here only as a courtesy to existing licence holders. If you are a new user, or if you wish to download a trial of either application, please note that you need to install the current version of Scrivener or Scapple. The options on this page will not give you a sense of what you will be buying in terms of system requirements and features.
Scrivener
Scrivener 3.2.3
This is the last version of Scrivener that supports those who are running macOS 10.12 "Sierra".
Scrivener 2.9
The last version of Scrivener 2, capable of being run on Intel hardware from Mac OS X 10.9 to macOS 10.13 “High Sierra” (it has not been tested, nor is it supported to run this version of Scrivener, on any more recent version of macOS). If you purchased from Apple’s Mac App Store, you will need to use their App Store software to download Scrivener, by clicking on the Purchases tab and finding Scrivener in the list.
This version of Scrivener is free to run on macOS 10.11 and older. If you are using 10.12 or above, it will work with Scrivener for macOS licences purchased prior to 26th June 2019.
Scrivener 2.5
If you are running an older operating system than 10.9 (we support back to 10.4), or are using a PowerPC Mac, you will need to download this version of Scrivener. Some on 10.6 may also find it preferable to the version above, which has been compiled in much newer versions of XCode (in particular if you use PDF you’ll want to use this version).
Note this version is only functional on systems that have been previously activated, since its serial number system uses a vendor that no longer exists and has no online mechanisms for new activations. This includes systems that have been rebuilt or restored in such a way that activation is lost.

Scrivener 1.54
This version of Scrivener runs on PowerPC or Intel hardware, for Mac OS X 10.4 “Tiger” to 10.6 “Snow Leopard”.
Scapple
Scapple 1.4.0
Versions of Scapple newer than 1.4.0 will only work on macOS 10.15 “Catalina” and later. If you are using a version of macOS between 10.11 and 10.14, then download this version:
Scapple 1.3.2
Versions of Scapple newer than 1.3.2 will only run on macOS 10.11 "El Capitan" and later. If you are using macOS 10.10 or older, then download this version of Scapple:
Scapple 1.2
Scapple version 1.3 and greater will no longer run on Mac OS X 10.6. If you are still using this operating system version, you will need to download the older version of Scapple:
